Dan Kaufman, a man with a longstanding history with illumination, is now shining brightly as MAC Production’s new Lighting Department Manager.
“No two events are ever exactly alike,” Dan said when asked about his favorite part of working in event production industry. “There’s such a wide variety of clients, venues, and crews that it makes each work experience unique.”
Dan began his work in lighting while in junior high school, working on high school theater productions. That early start continued into his college days at the University of Cincinnati, where he graduated from the Conservatory of Music’s E-Media program.
His work as a production specialist led to an opportunity as the head of lighting for another company, all of which helped him gain the experience that he now uses as a member of the MAC Productions team.
Away from the office, Dan enjoys the thrills of fatherhood and traveling. In fact, he and his wife have a goal to visit all 400+ recognized National Park Service sites in addition to various places abroad.
His love of seeking adventures outdoors led him to paddling the Little Miami River during the height of the pandemic and writing a guide about it. Dan also spends time taking care of his local environment removing invasive species and planting trees alongside his wife, who is also his paddling partner and a fellow FC Cincinnati fan.
Now that he’s here, he’s found that the MAC method is the perfect spot for him. He feels it will help him better serve his new clients.
“The amount of pre-production that MAC provides towards each event is great. We try to cover even the smallest details well ahead of time,” he said. “MAC will ensure that your event is executed to the highest standard. Our design team specializes in finding the right solution for your event, no matter the challenges. I’m looking forward to working on many large-scale events in the future.”
